It was a pleasure to be invited by Keen Canada to attend their International Women's Day Event.
When I walked into the airy office space of exposed brick and windows, located in a beautiful historic building, I knew I was somewhere special - little did I know!
The event celebrated the female executives and employees. Each invited someone who inspired them: Mothers, Daughters, friends, and wives filled the space. Tovah, the brand marketing specialist, invited me to attend. A fun fact, Tovah & I know each other from social media but never met before! The POWER of SOCIAL!
Immediately, I was drawn to the warmth of the room: The diversity of ages and cultures all coming together.
We enjoyed a game to serve as our ice breaker. Tears and Laughter filled the room.
Lindsey Elliot, Director of Regional Merchandising Sales, educated the group on the KEEN mission:
" Do things right first, then build shoes."
IN 2004 KEEN pulled its entire $1 million advertising budget, diverting it in support of the people affected by the Tsunami that hit the Indian Ocean.
KEEN is a value-led company that has been designed to be consciously created for a better planet.
They are on a mission to eliminate everything that should not end up in their products and our world.
The shoes are PFC free using a safe alternative without harming the planet.
KEEN shoes are infused with Eco Anti-Ordour that uses probiotics, not pesticides that are harmful to nature.
KEEN uses certified, "better" leather for cleaner water.
I learned so much about KEEN's core values.
Maryam " Director of Advancement" in faculty of environment at the University of Waterloo was our keynote speaker. Her warm eyes and radiant smile filled the room. PS I fell in Love with her #PinkMartini Shirt showcasing words such as " Graceful, engaging, passionate.. to name a few.
She shared her journey and told stories about the women who have impacted her life.
Maryam, Thank you for your authenticity, inspiration, and truth!
We !were gifted with a pair of the new Women's Terradora II Waterproof Boot. I know, LUCKY! These are the perfect show for my daily walks on the trails. It is called a "cross-over" hiking shoe. It has been updated with more performance, traction, and comfort.
As I placed my foot into the shoe, I immediately felt my foot was molded into place. It was if I was walking on air, my foot felt support yet light.
We enjoyed a celebratory lunch then completed out the day with inspirational messages for one another and a group photoshoot.
Thank you again, Keen, you made me feel so very special and included.
KEEN truly understands the power of uniting "like minds and hearts" that desire to leave an imprint on this world.
